Fred and Margaret Gill were born and raised in Burnley, Lancashire, England. The first time they visited Africa was in 1995 when they spent 3 weeks in South Africa visiting family. It was during this time that Africa stole part of Margaret’s heart. They visited Tanzania in 1999 on a 4 week mission trip, which was followed by numerous visits until 2003 when they made the decision to move there permanently. This was a massive step for them… both in their late 50’s.
It has not been an easy journey. They have faced many trials along the way including Fred having a heart attack 3 weeks after they arrived, Margaret severely breaking her arm, and their house and car both being broken into, just to name a few. They have a strong faith which sustained them during these trying times and they are excited about the future, which includes the building of a care facility for the terminally ill.
